Doing the Right Thing for Patient Safety

With the emergence of highly resistant superbugs in recent years, there is a growing concern in the medical community about antibiotic resistance. Even so, there is evidence that 95% -99% of non-eye doctors prescribe antibiotics for all cases of conjunctivitis1-2.

Unfortunately, antibiotics have no therapeutic impact on viral conjunctivitis. Prescribing them delays proper treatment and can have serious long-term effects on a patient's eye health.
